About this place

Suyeonsanbang is a traditional tea house in Seongbuk-dong, set in the 1933 hanok where writer Lee Tae-jun wrote 'Moonlit Night' and 'Hwang Jin-i' before leaving for North Korea in 1946. His great-granddaughter has run it since 1998. Six tables sit in rooms with heated floors, paper windows onto the garden and wooden verandas, and writers such as Jeong Ji-yong and Kim Yu-jeong once gathered here. Teas start at 10,000 won a pot, including jujube tea and ssanghwa-cha, and sweet pumpkin bingsu draws crowds in summer.
