About this place

The Seoul City Wall Trail (Hanyangdoseong) is an 18.7km path around Hanyang, the old capital of the Joseon Dynasty, following the ridges of Bugaksan, Namsan, Inwangsan and Naksan. First built in 1396 to protect the capital, the 600-year-old wall is still 70% intact. Along the way are eight historic gates, among them Namdaemun and Dongdaemun, and 169 cultural heritage sites. The trail is divided into six sections of varying difficulty, and walkers who collect stamps at four main gates receive a completion certificate from the Seoul Mayor.
