About this place

Jeongneung Royal Tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Seongbuk-gu, holds Queen Sindeok, second wife of King Taejo, who founded the Joseon Dynasty in 1392. After her stepson King Taejong killed her sons in a succession fight, he moved her tomb from central Seoul to the countryside and neglected it. Its paths are crooked and its buildings faded, unlike other royal tombs with straight ceremonial paths. Forest trails surround the hillside site, admission is 1,000 won, and it is reached from Sungshin Women's University Station.
