About this place
Deoksugung Palace stands next to City Hall in downtown Seoul, with traditional Korean halls beside neoclassical Western buildings. Emperor Gojong drank coffee in one of its pavilions. The Royal Guard Changing Ceremony, in traditional costume, takes place three times a day at 11am, 2pm and 3:30pm. Admission is 1,000 won; inside are the throne halls, a Western-style garden with fountains and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, and outside runs a stone-wall path lined with old trees.
