About this place

Cheonggyecheon is an 11-kilometer stream starting at Cheonggye Plaza near City Hall and flowing to the Han River. A highway covered it until a restoration finished in 2005. Its walking path now passes 22 bridges, waterfalls, stepping stones, art installations and native plants, with lights in the evening and events such as the Seoul Lantern Festival. Pumps bring in 120,000 tons of treated water a day, the stream area is 3-5°C cooler than its surroundings, and 64,000 people visit daily.
