About this place
Gyeongbokgung Palace, between Gyeongbokgung Station and Gwanghwamun Square, was built in 1395 as the main royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty. The Changing of the Guard takes place at 10am and 2pm, with traditional uniforms, old weapons and ceremonial drums. The grounds hold halls with painted ceilings and mythical creatures on the roofs, gardens where kings once walked and two museums, and Bukchon Hanok Village and the cafes of Seochon are close by. Visitors in hanbok get in free.
