About this place

Bonghwasan Mountain (160m) is a neighborhood park in Jungnang-gu and an easy 30-minute hike, with views of Buramsan, Dobongsan and Namsan and north to Yangju in Gyeonggi Province. Its summit beacon mound, officially the Achasan Beacon Site (Seoul Monument No.15), was rebuilt in 1994; signal fires there once relayed news from the northern frontier to Namsan. The Sansingak Shrine hosts the Bonghwasan Dodanggut shamanistic ritual every year on the third day of the third lunar month. Besides the hiking trails, a wheelchair-accessible ramp winds to the peak.
