About this place
Suguksa Temple is a Buddhist temple in Eunpyeong-gu. King Sejo first built it in 1459 to honor his late son, Crown Prince Uigyeong; it was rebuilt in 1900 and later covered in gold leaf. The gilded main hall, officially the Golden Buddhist Sanctum (황금보전), looks nothing like the usual red and green Korean temples. Beyond it are prayer halls, Buddha statues and forest trails leading up the mountain.
