About this place
Jingwansa is a thousand-year-old Buddhist temple in the foothills of Bukhansan National Park, a few steps from Eunpyeong Hanok Village, and one of Seoul's four major temples. King Hyeonjong of the Goryeo Dynasty built it in 1011 to honor the monk Jingwan, who had saved his life. Halls painted in dancheong colors stand beside mountain streams. The resident nuns are known for temple cuisine, and White House chefs have learned recipes from them; templestay programs include meditation and tea ceremonies.
