About this place

The April 19th National Cemetery & Memorial Hall sits at the foot of Bukhansan Mountain and honors the 224 people who died in the April 19th Revolution of 1960 against authoritarian rule. A white memorial tower and sculptures representing 'Roots of Democracy' and 'Sparks of Justice' stand among walking paths lined with pine, juniper and maple trees. In the memorial hall, exhibitions tell how students and citizens overthrew President Syngman Rhee's dictatorship. Bukhansan Mountain is in view, with spring blossoms in May.
