About this place

The Modern History Memorial Hall is a free museum below Bukhansan in Gangbuk-gu, up the road from the April 19th National Cemetery. Opened in 2016, it covers modern Korea through the Donghak Peasant Movement, the independence movement, the Korean War and the April 19 Revolution of 1960. Permanent exhibits fill the first floor and changing ones the second. Guided explanations can be booked by phone or at the desk; parking is very limited, and from Suyu Station (Line 4, Exit 4) the Gangbuk 01 village bus stops at Sinseong Villa, about a minute's walk away.
