About this place

Guam Park in Gangseo-gu honors the physician Heo Jun (1539-1615), author of the medical encyclopedia Dongui Bogam, which is listed by UNESCO. Heogabawi Rock, a natural cave where locals hid during wars, is said to be where he compiled his texts, and a statue shows him treating patients. The park sits on a lake made from part of the Han River; its pond holds the purple Gwangju Rock, and there are a musical fountain, pavilions and playgrounds. It is next to the Heo Jun Museum, near Gayang Station on Line 9.
