About this place
Heoninneung Royal Tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage site, lies in the pine forests of Daemosan Mountain in southern Seoul. Two Joseon royal couples are buried here, 400 years apart. King Taejong, father of King Sejong the Great, and Queen Wongyeong lie in twin tombs from the early 15th century, and King Sunjo and Queen Sunwon share a combined tomb from the 19th century. T-shaped wooden shrines, stone guardian animals and walking trails surround the tombs, and admission is 1,000 won.
