About this place

Hanumul is an old well on the summit ridge of Hoamsan Mountain in Geumcheon-gu, about 315 meters above sea level, inside Hoamsan Mountain Fortress (Historic Site No.343). Built in the Unified Silla period and rebuilt in the Joseon Dynasty, it is 22 meters east to west and holds water all year. It supplied troops during the Japanese invasions, when General Sun Geo-yi fought alongside General Kwon Yul, and villagers held rain rites here in droughts. Once called Heaven's Well, Dragon's Den and Dragon's Well, it is reached by hiking trails.
