Ewha Womans University was founded in 1886, and its campus mixes Gothic heritage buildings with the award-winning ECC (Ewha Campus Complex), an underground campus designed by French architect Dominique Perrault. A glass canyon called Campus Valley cuts through it. The university has 22,000 students, and the streets outside its gates are lined with women's fashion and beauty shops, cafes and salons at student-friendly prices.
