About this place
Bongeunsa is a Buddhist temple with 1,200 years of history, set among the office towers of Gangnam across from COEX Mall. A 23-meter statue of the Maitreya Buddha overlooks the city, and the halls carry colorful murals and detailed woodwork. On Thursdays the Templelife program covers tea ceremony, meditation and sutra copying. In May, thousands of lanterns go up for the Lotus Lantern Festival, and Bongeunsa Station is nearby.
