Days a week that full-time staff doing the same work are scheduled, usually 5 (Enforcement Decree table 2).
Weekly holiday pay
- Weekly holiday hours
- 40 h a week ÷ 5 days = 8 h
- Weekly holiday pay (1 week)
- 10,320 won × 8 h = 82,560 won
Per month = weekly amount × 365 ÷ 7 ÷ 12 (about 4.345 weeks). A monthly salary already includes weekly holiday pay.
How it is calculated
- Employees who work every scheduled day of a week get at least one paid holiday a week (Labor Standards Act art. 55(1), Enforcement Decree art. 30(1)).
- There is no weekly holiday when scheduled hours average under 15 a week over 4 weeks (art. 18(3)), judged on the 4 weeks before.
- Weekly holiday pay = scheduled hours per day × hourly wage. Scheduled hours per day = weekly scheduled hours ÷ workdays of full-time staff (usually 5), up to 8 hours (Enforcement Decree table 2).
- Employment must last to the end of the week. Working the next week is not required (MOEL interpretation, 4 August 2021).
- Amounts are rounded to the won. A monthly salary (209 hours) already includes weekly holiday pay, so it is not added again.
