How it is checked

  • The minimum wage is 10,320 won an hour in 2026 and 10,700 won in 2027 (Ministry of Employment and Labor notices). It applies to every workplace with at least one employee (Minimum Wage Act art. 3).
  • Wages paid regularly at least once a month count. From 2024, monthly bonuses and cash for meals, transport and housing count in full (art. 6(4), Act No. 15666 addendum art. 2).
  • Overtime and holiday work pay and premiums, pay for unused leave, pay for paid holidays other than the weekly holiday, bonuses set over more than a month and benefits in kind do not count (Enforcement Rule art. 2). Weekly holiday pay counts.
  • Hourly conversion: daily pay ÷ scheduled hours per day, weekly pay ÷ (scheduled + weekly holiday hours), monthly pay ÷ monthly base hours (Enforcement Decree art. 5(1)). A 40 hour week gives 209 hours a month.
  • The 90% probation rate needs a contract of 1 year or more, the first 3 months of probation and a job that is not simple manual work (art. 5(2), Enforcement Decree art. 3).
  • The amount needed and the counted wages are compared without rounding. The shortfall is rounded up to the won.
