About this place

Seoul National Cemetery in Dongjak-gu, established in 1956, is where more than 175,000 people are buried, among them independence fighters, Korean War veterans and four former presidents, including Nobel Peace Prize winner Kim Dae-jung. The 1.43 million square meter grounds hold memorial halls, the Chungseong Fountain, weeping cherry trees, and walking paths with city views from the hilltops. Families come for picnics, especially in cherry blossom season. Entry is free, and Dongjak Station (Lines 4 and 9) is steps away.
